When the children of Rhodes break the internet - Alia AI in WIRED Greece
How it all started
Every year, the Youth Entrepreneurship Club at 'Rodion Paideia' School starts with one simple question: What problem do we want to solve?
This year, the team of 24 students identified something very practical: Greek medical practices are overwhelmed by phone calls, appointments, and administrative workload. And no one had yet built an AI assistant that speaks fluent Greek.
That is how the Alia-AI — a voice digital assistant that answers phone calls, books appointments, tracks availability, and saves up to 4 hours of productivity per day for each clinic reception.
Alia-AI didn't come to replace — it came to assist. A tool that gives time and productivity back to doctors and administrative staff who juggle many things at once.
The moment I stopped breathing
The message from WIRED Greece arrived out of the blue. For a few seconds I thought I was mistaken. The WIRED — the magazine I've been reading for years about technology and innovation — wanted to write about my children. About my students from Rhodes.
This is a tool that doesn't come to replace, but to assist the work of a medical receptionist. The team aims to transform the screen from a passive consumption medium to a creation medium.
