The Entrepreneurship Club team had the honour of meeting online with Dimitris, creator of the Greek business «Made by Skinnies», which designs and manufactures unique, handcrafted board games.
From the very first moment, Dimitris inspired us with his passion for creation, as well as his honesty about entrepreneurship. He shared his journey with us, from his initial idea through to its implementation and successful operation designs, creates and packages everything himself, sending them with care throughout Greece.
What moved us deeply was when he opened his heart and shared something more personal with us:
«From a young age I made my own games and stories. I was more or less forced to learn how to build my own world and live in it, because I didn’t have many friends, you see. At a young age I was making my own board games. At university room. Games were always my escape from reality. There I always felt like I belonged, because I could create the world I wanted.»
He also spoke to us honestly about the difficulties he encountered at the start, particularly in matters of cost management, production and finances. He stressed how important it is to have a good accountant by your side — not just to keep the numbers, but to be able to build something with confidence.
But most importantly, there were his words of advice to all of us:
He encouraged us to dare, to chase our dreams, and to not wait for the perfect moment to get started. «If you wait until you know everything before you start, you’ll never start,» he told us.
Dimitris is the example of an authentic creator, who through imagination and perseverance, managed to build a world as he had dreamed it — and share it with all of us, through his games.
He reminded us that when you can’t find the world you want, you can create it yourself.
